Student exchange programs are open to high school students from any country. Some restrictions may apply due to visa and foreign residency conditions. All foreign exchange students in Rotary International’s Long Term Exchange Program (LTEP) are required to attend high school while on exchange. Eligible students who have just graduated from high school and going on exchange during their gap year are still required to attend high school full time in their assigned foreign country – it’s a mandatory part of the cultural immersion. There are two main types of foreign exchange programs: “study abroad” and “student exchange” programs. If you are a high school student or a college student, you will need a J-1 or F-1 visa.
